Does your life have purpose?

I was recently given an assignment in one of my graduate courses to determine what my Life Purpose was. I was overwhelmed by the very idea! How was I supposed to know this? Is it even possible to really know? If I can’t figure it out, what then? Then while reading the assigned text Teamwork Is An Individual Skill: Getting Your Work Done When Sharing Responsibility by Christopher M. Avery I posed 3 questions to help me in my pursuit of a Life Purpose, and they were so empowering to me, I wanted to give you all the opportunity to determine your Life Purpose as well.

Reflect on each question, and then write down a life purpose that would support your answers.

1. If you were to inherit $1,000,000/month, tax free, for the rest of your life, but you could only receive the money if you still worked 40 hours a week, providing something of great value to the world, what would you do?

2. When you look around at the world you live in, what do you see that needs doing -- that no one else sees -- that you are singularly qualified to do?

3. What application of your intelligence, passion, and abilities excites you?(p. 52).

As I completed this assignment myself I began to see myself in a new light, as one who can and should be making a difference in the world around me. Once I had my life purpose written out and clearly defined in my own mind, it has completely changed my mind set. I am now looking for those individuals who can help me achieve my life purpose goals, for situations and learning that can help to grow and develop myself in this area, and for those people who could benefit from my purpose in life. For the first time in a very long time, I am on task, and moving in a positive direction.

Remember, we are all a part of a team ... the HUMAN TEAM, and when you're a part of a team "TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE"! So, if this life purpose exercise helps you, I would love to hear about it! Leave me a message, or send me an email.
